New Primary Language Curriculum

A new primary language curriculum for English and Irish has been developed by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) and is being introduced in all primary schools in Ireland. This new curriculum applies in all school contexts - English-medium schools, Gaeltacht schools, Irish-medium schools and special schools.
During 2016/2017 all teachers received in-service and then all schools will then gradually introduce this new curriculum on a phased basis, beginning in Junior and Senior Infants. The curriculum for Junior and Senior Infants is aligned with the principles and methodologies of Aistear: the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework.
